Postally used postcard of the Port of Trieste in a panoramic view from 1901, with steamships and sailing vessels moored in the harbour and the city spread out at the foot of the hill. In the background the seafront palaces and the heights surrounding the city can be recognised, while in the foreground steam and sailing boats crowd the basin. The photograph predates the construction of the Hotel Savoia, a useful reference for dating the view. An image that conveys the intense maritime activity of Trieste in the early twentieth century.
