Vintage 1899 postcard showing the interior of the Post Palace in Trieste, the Imperial and Royal post office (k.k. Post), with its large covered courtyard and the statue of Emperor Franz Joseph set in the central niche. Tiers of arcades open along the sides, while the great candelabra and the decorated floor define the monumental space. The bilingual caption reads «Interno del Palazzo delle Poste – Inneres der K.K. Post». A record of the Habsburg elegance of Trieste's public buildings at the end of the nineteenth century.
