Station Square
This postcard from 1906 shows the historic Piazza della Stazione in Trieste at the beginning of the twentieth century, the pulsating heart of the city's transportation during the Habsburg era. In the foreground, horse-drawn carriages, workers, and passersby can be seen animating the dirt square, while in the background, the buildings of the central railway station stand out, symbol of the strategic importance of Trieste as a port and European crossroads.
