Campo Marzio Railway Station
This period postcard depicts the Campo Marzio railway station in Trieste at the beginning of the 20th century. The building, in an eclectic style typical of the great railway infrastructures of the Impero austro-ungarico, presents a monumental facade, marked by large windows, columns, and architectural decorations. In the foreground, a canopy with a small structure for passenger services and some period lampposts can be seen. The Campo Marzio station was inaugurated in 1906 as the terminus of the Transalpina railway, connecting Trieste with Central Europe.
