Via Silvio Pellico and Galleria Montuzza
This historical postcard depicts Via Silvio Pellico with the monumental entrance to the Galleria Montuzza. In the foreground, the street is animated by passersby, men with hats and women in dark attire; in the background, at the center of the frame, one can see the tripartite portal of the Galleria with the lateral staircases that rise to the upper levels and, inside the main arch, a tram entering/exiting the tunnel. On the right, the richly ornate facades of early twentieth-century buildings stand out, with curved balconies and sculptural corbels in secessionist/liberty taste; on the left, more sober buildings with shops under the porticoes.
