Therefore, the floating establishment that at the end of the 800s is anchored in front of the Hôtel de La Ville - particularly loved by the wife of Richard Francis Burton, Isabel - can only be called «Bagno Maria».
Comfort and Safety in 1872
In 1872, the floating bath, comfortable and luxurious, is protected by heavy nets against sharks. Isabel Burton can rent a cabin, wear her short pants, the bodice or the belt of blue wool or white alpaca, according to the fashion of the time, and swim freely in the limpid waters of the gulf.
