Palazzo delle Poste and Palazzo delle Ferrovie under Construction
This historical photo shows the Palazzo delle Poste of Trieste, with the area in front still in the construction site phase, probably during the construction of the nearby Palazzo delle Ferrovie as well. The building, imposing and in neo-Renaissance style, stands out for its symmetrical facade, the numerous windows and the refined architectural details, such as the corner cupolas and the large central mansard roof. In the foreground, shacks, construction materials and rubble can be seen, as testimony to the ongoing works. Some people and carriages are moving along the road in front of the palace, while the general atmosphere conveys the idea of a city in rapid urban transformation at the end of the 19th century.
