Tombola Crowd in Corsia Stadion (Via Battisti), Trieste

This extraordinary historical photograph captures a massive crowd gathered in Corsia Stadion, now Via Cesare Battisti in Trieste, for the traditional public Tombola game. The event, established in 1867 and extremely popular on festive days, featured large scoreboards installed to show the drawn numbers to the citizens. In the background rises the Monte Valerio hill, dominated by the \"Castelletto\" of 1861, yet still missing the imposing building of the University of Trieste built in 1938.
